A New Beginning
I think we could all use a new beginning after 2020.
The coming new year brings the promise of a vaccine, hope of controlling the coronavirus, and of course the opportunity to begin anew that comes every January. But luckily, we don’t have to wait until January 1 for a new beginning.
On December 21, Jupiter and Saturn will come into alignment just 1 degree away from each other, or 1/5 of a full moon diameter. This rare celestial event will produce a bright light in the southwest known as the “Christmas Star” or the “Star of Bethlehem.” It has not been observed since March 4, 1226 (yes—almost 800 years ago!) . This alignment is considered a sign of opportunity, "both the intensity of old forms dying as well as the fertility of new growth beginning to take shape."
As wealth managers, we embrace the idea that it is never a bad time to invest in your own future. However, it’s nice to have a physical sign of hope for a better tomorrow. Every investor, by definition, is an optimist. We believe in future growth and prosperity!
While the full alignment will occur on the winter solstice, December 21, Jupiter and Saturn are growing closer every day, so tonight, take a look at the southwest about 45 minutes after sunset. You’ll see the “Christmas Star” forming low in the western sky.
